hey Gerry, good job taping the band. The transfers sound pretty damned good. Due to a small number of reasons, it took me five years to get my tapes from 1973 transferred "perfectly". Matt Smith did an excellent job transferring them last year. I never heard my own tapes sound so clearly!

fyi - Using my memory and some meager Google searches, five years ago I scribbled together and cut-and-paste some bs posting on this Forum about early portable tape decks. I tried to be a bit informative, but it was flawed. The conversation that ensued lays out how Japan's tape recorder "products" sometimes got into the USA's market "early". We discussed how travelers to Japan, and Audiophile businessmen with connections to regular travelers, controlled some of the ways us tapers got our hands on these tape decks back then. It's an interesting read...

Maybe we should have a Taper's BBQ someday.

Feel free to join this taper conversation (for posterity's sake?):

Hey Monte,

I am determined to make them an even better listen.

How do I post a few photos of old equipment and other materials in the taper conversation?

Thanks,

Gerry

If you know how to use HTML, you can embed the photos when posting here like myself and others do. The Archive's Forums requires an additional hyperlink to be included when you do this, otherwise the photo won't appear embedded in your posting. For some people, this is too confusing and complicated. However, you can structurally publish some interesting multimedia "fact sheets" by using HTML in your posts here. After all, this is a Public Library. See example:

You can also copy the URL link to each photo, and then post it that way. Just copy-and-paste the photo's internet address (URL) in your posting. See example:

If the photos are not on the internet, you can upload them here by attaching up to three images (attach files) per posting here. You will never be able to delete these photos if you attach them to your postings! This example demonstrates attaching a file, and embedding it in the posting it at the same time:

If you have a lot of photos, and you want to make a collection that you can manage forever, you can create image collection items here on The Archive. This makes you the Administrator for each collection. Copyright infringements and Create Commons attributions are issues you'll need to consider. Two examples of my own photo collections here:
